Stevens Equipment Rental (SER) has significantly enhanced its specialist earthmoving capabilities with the delivery of new, technology-rich machinery from Caterpillar.
The additions include Cat D5 and D6 tracked dozers, and CS13 and CS16 soil compactors, alongside 966 and 972 wheel loaders, and a 320 excavator.
These machines form part of SER’s wider 2025 fleet expansion, strengthening the rental company’s ability to offer a comprehensive one-stop-shop solution for earthmoving projects.
"This investment is a direct response to what our customers have been asking for," said Andrew Stevens, managing director of SER. "We are listening to their needs and providing the best equipment on the market for these specific product categories.
"It’s a core part of our commitment to being a family-run, approachable company that can react quickly to what our clients require. It’s why we have such high levels of repeat business; we stand by our customers, and they stay with us."
Versatility and power for any application
The new medium-sized D5 and D6 dozers - with 12.8 t and 16.1 t operating weights respectively - are specified for maximum versatility. SER is offering both with a choice of either Semi-Universal (SU) blades, ideal for heavy-duty material and stone pushing, or Variable Pitch Angle Tilt (VPAT) blades for precision fine grading of topsoil and embankments.
"With both SU and VPAT blade options, we’re providing our customers a solution for every stage of the job, from the initial bulk earthmoving to the detailed final grade," said Mark Need, SER’s sales manager for the North.
"It’s this versatility that enables our customers to hire one machine for multiple tasks, which is a huge efficiency gain for them."
12.8 t Cat CS13 is ideal for granular soils, while the larger 16.1 t CS16 offers superior compaction force for extensive earth-fill and road construction projects.

Advanced grading technology
A key feature of the investment is the integration of advanced grade control technology. SER’s new Cat D5 and D6 dozers are factory-fitted with Cat® Grade with 3D, an automated system that improves grading efficiency and accuracy.
Furthermore, the dozers, along with the new CS13 soil compactors and 320 excavator, are also equipped with the advanced Trimble® Earthworks Grade Control Platform.
"By providing real-time 3D guidance directly to the operator, the Trimble® Earthworks Grade Control Platform ensures they can hit the target grade with precision and efficiency, reducing material overruns and costly rework," explained Ben Beard, SER’s sales manager for the South.
"We are specifying these machines above and beyond the factory standard because our commitment is to deliver a premium fleet that provides tangible benefits to our rental customers, whether that’s through enhanced safety or game-changing efficiency."
Now in its 50th year, Stevens Equipment Rental continues to build on its legacy of combining a modern, premium fleet with the trusted values of a family-run business.
